veröffentlicht ihr zweites Album “Phiu” mit der Elektronik Produzentin AGF!
Ihre Mischung aus Pop, HipHop, ClicksnCuts, Club-Musik und Quios “Verbal Kung Fu” begeisterte bereits
2005 Kritiker weltweit, als das erste Album “like oooh!” herauskam.
Auf “PHIU” setzt Quio nun ihren Weg zwischen den Genres fort, und schafft es damit erneut Unvereinbares zu vereinen, vorher Ungehörtes hörbar zu machen, und stilistisch wie inhaltlich Klischees zu attackieren.
Es gibt niemals nur eine Quio, denn ihre Styles sind so unterschiedlich wie ein ganzes Plattenregal! Von der wütendenden Rapperin zur zerbrechlichen Sängerin, vom lustig-leichten MC zur ernsthaften Künstlerin, mit Quio wird es nie langweilig.
Ihre Einflüsse sind ebenso verschieden, sie reichen von Ol Dirty Bastards Rap über den HipHop der Beastie Boys bis zu den Dancehall-Klängen von Tanya Stevens und Lady Saw, den Grime MCs Lady Sovereign und Shystie bis zu The Smiths und Phoenix.
AGF nimmt Quios Einflüsse auf, zerhackt sie und würzt nach mit ihrem einzigartigen elektronischen Flavour, vielen bekannt durch ihre Solo-Veröffentlichungen, Projekt-Arbeiten (u.a. mit Vladislav Delay und Craig Armstrong) und ihre weltweiten Auftritte. Der ungewöhnliche musikalische Stil von AGF und Quio, zu hören bereits auf dem ersten Album “Like oooh!”, ist nun bei “Phiu” auf den Punkt gebracht: phette Beats supporten tighte Raps, tiefe Basslines lassen Quios Gesang noch zerbrechlicher wirken.

NICOLETTE, Ex-ShutUpAndDance produzierte “Billie Holiday on Speed” erweist Quio die Ehre mit ihrer einzigartigen Stimme auf “So Loud”!
EDU K, Baile Funk Star aus Brasilien gab Quio eine Rap-Lektion in Portugiesisch auf “Minha Rima”.
DARIUS JAMES, Afro-Amerikanischer Schriftsteller, bekannt geworden mit Titeln wie “Thats Blaxploitation!” oder “Negrophobia”, erörtert zusammen mit Quio deren “Germanic Self” auf “Bratwurst”.
AUDIOTAXI, Berliner Produzenten Duo, bestehend aus DJ G-Serve und Mokry, arbeiten mit Quio seit über 10 Jahren zusammen. U.a. auf Berlins Piratenradiosender Twen FM, bei Veranstaltungsreihen und Auftritten durch ganz Europa! Aktuell treten G-Serve und Quio zusammen als Underground Essentials einmal monatlich in der Box + Bar im Deutschen Theater auf. Audiotaxi haben mehrere Tracks auf “Phiu” co-produziert.

QUIO, MC and singer coming out of Berlins buzzing club scene , has finished her second Album with Electronic Producer AGF!
She is one of the few fe-MCs in Germany, who drop their rhymes over Drum´n´Bass, Garage and Dubstep, but with “PHIU” she continues to follow her own path already highly acclaimed by the audience and critics for her first album “LIKE OOOH!” in 2005.

On “PHIU”, the versatile vocalist shows once again how multi-faceted her styles can be. From the angry rapper to the delicate singer, from the light-hearted MC to the serious speaking artist. Be assured, with QUIOs vibrating mixture of HipHop, Club, Electronica and Pop you will never get bored!
She plunges readily in and out of her collected adulthood influences: from Ol Dirty Bastard over the Beastie Boys to Tanya Stevens, Lady Saw and Sovereign, from The Smiths to Phoenix.
All these are being minced up, recombined and given the unique electronic flavour of QUIOs producer AGF aka ANTYE GREIE, known for her various solo releases and worldwide performances. Their unusual style, already present on the first Album „LIKE OOOH!“, has now been refined on „PHIU“ – strong beats support raps with high impact and deep basslines bring out the tangent fragility of QUIOs vocal lines.

AUDIOTAXI, producer duo consisting of DJ G-SERVE and MOKRY, who have been working with QUIO for over ten years doing radioshows on Berlins pirate station Twen FM, DJing and MCing all over Europe! They have written several tracks on “PHIU”.

The new album opens with a BANG!
On her first track „BRATWURST“ QUIO allows the listener an insight into her „Germanic Self“ surrounded by strange german shoutouts of African-American writer DARIUS JAMES („Negrophobia“, „That´s Blaxpoitation!“) and weird explanations of the prussian soul. She is being accompanied by AGFs surprising mixture of March Music snippets and nervous basslines. Playfully questioning Hermanns stereotypes from Kraftwerk to Hitler.
After pondering on her cultural heritage QUIO continues the album with another topic:
In „GROW TOGETHER“ she describes how men and women suffer from the rigid definition of their gender, and states „..we are all girls, didnt you know?!“ . She talks about how women experience men as tender „…nobody ever mentions how soft the skin is on hard-on, pardon…“. And advises women to take up more space for themselves also adressing the slimming craze : „…dont nibble, take beaucoup. Its what i got to say to you! Raise your voice grow extrasize, broader than broadway…!“
After having settled the serious matters, QUIO goes on to do some boasting on “SO LOUD feat. NICOLETTE” and “RISING TIDE feat. LISE”, only to get to the flipside, whispering and singing from the bottom of her soul on “I JUMP”.
On “MINHA RIMA feat. EDU K” Quio gets a portugese Rap-Lesson by Brasilian Baile Funk Rapper Edu K and answers her colleague in a Lollipop stylee:
